The equipment RefineTek shipped for the Fengsheng project has recently been installed and is ready for operation.
The process uses LNG BOG as the starting feedstock. A He/H₂ mixture at relatively high concentration — obtained after multi-stage pre-treatment and pre-purification, with CH₄ and N₂ as the main impurities — passes through membrane separation, PSA, alloy, and TSA purification/separation systems to extract a high-purity He product, with He purity reaching as high as 5N.
As is well known, the conventional approach to separating He and H₂ is to add extra O₂, then oxidize the H₂ into H₂O via copper oxide catalysis, palladium catalysis, or combustion, followed by separately removing the H₂O and excess O₂ — thereby purifying the H₂ out of the He.
This solution instead uses a specialty material to separate H₂ and He without any combustion. The entire separation process takes place under circulating-water conditions and temperature, offering high safety, wide operating flexibility, low technical risk, and reliable performance.
The successful delivery of this batch of equipment is not only an important milestone in the partnership between the two parties, but also signals that the Fengsheng project is about to enter a new stage of improved production efficiency and quality.
